THE PLAIN POETS FAQ
Who are the Plain Poets?
You, of course!
(just kidding! it's all the poets and writers of our community)
Who runs the Instagram page?
Our page is run by a team of writers and poets on Instagram. While @nosxcthing_ is the founder, the page is currently managed by @nxtashawrites_ who also plays the role of the creative director. Together, they're backed up by more writers and poets.
What is the Writer of the Month Project?
The Writer of The Month Project is a continuing segment of The Plain Poets. We'll be interviewing a writer of your choosing and in our segment, we want to know their muses, their writing history & experiences and their writing process! There is more to their own work after all. We want to know why they're a writer.
The WOTM Project will be posted at the end of every month.
What are The Plain Poets?
A plain poet is the exact opposite of what defines an "Insta-poet". They are the ones that come up with the most beautiful, complex and genuine pieces. They are the true poets and writers, and they do not defame the true art of poetry. Unlike the conventional short styles of an Insta-poet, their work is typically long, elaborately detailed and deep. They invoke the rawest of emotions, and their work shouldn't really mean one thing.
What can you do?
Easy - show us all the support we can get. You may also submit your work to be featured, and recommend us your favourite writing/poetry accounts on Instagram. If you need a friend or a muse, you can contact us via our Instagram page. We're here for you.
What are our other segements on our page?
Write With Me:
This is a bi-weekly or occasional writing challenge where we're posting random prompts. All you have to do is conjure up a poem on the spot in the comments. Sometimes that can end up as your next poem, if you want to continue writing it that is.
Question of The Day:
A thing we believe in is how "intellectual conversations" can trigger your creative juice. We'll be posting a question that can have many different answers, and hopefully, they'll be your next poem.
Why The Plain Poets?
According to the founder (@nosxcthing_ on Instagram), he wanted a community name everyone can get behind. The Plain Poets truly represents what we're truly doing - writing plain poetry no matter how ambiguous, confusing or different it seems. We are writing plain poetry after all.
How to submit your work?
If your work is already published on Instagram, you can send your pieces to us via DM.
You may also submit to us via email. All the details are in our Submissions page.
How to collaborate with us?
That, my friend, is definitely something we want to work on. Hopefully in the future, we can have page-writer collaborations. In the meantime, if you're interested, let us know!
Another thing we're interested in is connecting writers for individual collaborations. If you're in need of a writer or two, just let us know and we'll advertise it for you on our page!
What do we do?
We're just like every other writer/poet community pages...But not exactly. Here at The Plain Poets, we're giving the underrated writers and poets on Instagram a chance to shine. Through our personalised set of posts, we'll be featuring your work, inspiring your work, elevating your voice, and connecting with all the unique poets and writers on this platform.
What else do we do?
Other than showcasing work, we want to help you beat writer's block. We'll be introduching occasional writing challenges and/or games to help you work on your creative juices.
Other than these games, we're opening our DMs for a writer-to-writer consultation. We're offering guidance for your work-in-progress (tips, ideas etc.) and we can also provide advice on how to establish yourself as a writing account on Instagram!
What do The Plain Poets value?
Interaction and connection - big or small, we want to unite all the underrated writing accounts on Instagram. We want to know you, and we want you to meet other writers too! Our page aims to be that safe space writers and poets can stop by in the name of true poetry.
For newborn accounts (those that just joined the writing/poetry community), we'll be welcoming you, as The Plain Poets.
